Unemployed and what's to come
After almost 2 years working as an IT technician (doing basically the job of a Sysadmin… for a lower salary), I was “invited to leave” by HR and accepted, I am now officially unemployed. What does this mean for PussTheCat.org In short, PussTheCat.org will remain as is… partially (see what’s next below). I started to fix longstanding “issues” of it recently (moving Rimgo to another server, updating/enhancing the homepage…) and it will continue (I also plan to deploy at least one more privacy frontend). ...
I was a guest on Brodie Robertson's Tech Over Tea podcast
Context This blog post is a reminder for people who haven’t already watched it (or who haven’t heard about it). Back in late 2023 (times flies… I planned to write this blog post months ago) I was a guest on Brodie Robertson’s (Invidious | YouTube) podcast, Tech Over Tea (Invidious | YouTube), where we talked about Invidious, YouTube, adblockers, privacy… and everything in between (along with lots and lots of rambling)! If you are interested and haven’t already watched it, check it out! (If you have already watched it, you can still check it out too!) ...
Loneliness and happiness or: how one can ruin the other
This post is a follow-up to Ethics, morality and good or: the story of my life Introduction I’ve been feeling down lately, so I think it’s a good time to write a follow up to one of my previous “personal” post: Ethics, morality and good or: the story of my life Even though this post is mainly based around my own experience, and might looks like it’s just me crying about my own situation, I am making a point at the end that isn’t just about my own experience. I still feel like what I wrote is too self-centered but I wanted to give as many details to show that even trying, sadly, doesn’t always work. ...
The quest for the perfect registrar: from Gandi to Netim
Context Over the year I used 5 different registrars, I started with Namesilo (because of the cheap price), with OVH (because of the cheaper price on some TLD), then moved to Gandi (from Namesilo and OVH). I also used Namecheap (an awful registrar), Porkbun and Regery (because of the cheap price on one of the TLD I wanted on a domain I don’t use for now). Gandi has been my main registrar for years for multiples reasons: great UI, great ethic, France-based company. The prices weren’t good, but what mattered to me was the rest (as long as my domain don’t cost me more than 20€/year each), the service was great and it was a good company. ...
Ethics, morality and good or: the story of my life
Context This blog post is based on a discussion that took place on Matrix. This discussion was about humanity’s ethics and morality, and the fact that humanity as a whole is screwed because it won’t change its ways, and that morality, as a whole, isn’t important to most humans. To quote someone who participated in this discussion: “you can’t expect miracles […] where humanity in general is at least flawed and at most malicious”. ...
